A Message From Our President

This temple was formed in 1986 when Families I knew from a neighboring community where I grew up, got together to create our congregation.   I was a teenager back then so I visited the Temple from time to time, when I was in town. I even attended High Holiday services at Newfield High School where we still hold those services today.

In 1999, when I was planning to get married and start a family of my own, I found Temple Beth Emeth to be the obvious choice. It was close enough to where I lived but it was the cozy atmosphere and loving environment that drew me to become a member.

Over the years I have gotten involved in my own small way. I would sponsor an Oneg, attend Men’s Club meetings, and even served as a trustee on the board. I once ran the youth group and have coordinated parties and events with a group of close friends who are always there to support the temple. This has become not only my Jewish Community Center, but my home away from home as well.

In spite of all this, I never thought I would find myself as the President of the Congregation. It seemed a natural choice to make when I was asked to take on this role. The temple has become so much a part of my everyday life. There are so many events and so many friends with whom I spend my time.

Now as I plan my sons Bar Mitzvah in 2017, I find this is the time for me to give back to the Temple and congregation that has given me so much. I hope you will join me in Celebrating our 30th Anniversary at the end of this year. We have so many Simchas to enjoy, events, and programs for everyone.

How can you get involved? We have Hebrew School and Youth Activities for the kids. We have Men’s Club and Sisterhood for the adults. We have Adult Education and our Rabbi is currently running and adult B’Nai Mitvah class. We have guest speakers, cooking classes, parties on the holidays, community Seders for Passover and Tu B’Shevat. We have a softball team, and the Pomegranite Guild!

We have our barn where there is ALWAYS a bargain and great place to donate those unwanted household items. It is a great place to volunteer too! We have our library with a renovation in store and great new books to learn from and enjoy.

We have our weekly services with Rabbi Shalhevet and Cantor Green. Every week you get to meet a temple family or two who sponsor the Oneg!

I love Temple Beth Emeth because it is big enough to provide me with all the spiritual enlightenment I need, and also intimate enough to allow me to make a difference. I know almost every family here and hope to get to know the others during my tenure here as Temple President. If you are not a member yet, I’d like to get to know you too. I can be reached anytime by email at President@tbemtsinai.org. I welcome any comments or suggestions you may have, and I hope to see you at Friday night services.
